              Lathes have various designs due to their use, structure, speed, and transmission method. Therefore, they must be suitable for the production and processing of workpieces in order to meet the economic benefits.Here we classify it as the following according to the characteristics of its work:


1.   Centre lathe:
      Also known as a drill lathe, it is the most widely used type of lathe. The early ordinary lathe transmission was a belt-conveyor tower gear transmission, and gear transmission transmission has been used today.
The advantage of the gearbox is that it can accurately master the spindle speed, and there is no spindle speed is too high, the belt friction consumption, sliding situation, because the spindle is placed horizontally, if the bed surface is notched, it is Gap lathe (Gap Lathe).

2.   Bench lathe:
Table lathes, also known as desktop lathes, are similar in type and structure to ordinary lathes.It is usually installed on a work table and used for production. It is suitable for the production of precision measuring instruments, instruments and small parts.

3.   Vertical Lathe:
The main shaft of the vertical lathe is vertically installed, the bed is horizontal and the workpiece is placed on a rotatable bed. Particularly suitable for machining large diameter but short length workpieces.

4.   Turret lathe:
Turret lathes, also known as Hexagonal lathes, are designed with a hexagonal rotating turret as an alternative to the tailstock of an ordinary lathe.Especially suitable for processing a large number of workpieces in a variety of processing procedures (such as boring, reaming, boring), suitable for mass production.

5.   Automatic Lathe:
Automatic lathes can be automatically turned in accordance with the order of processing the workpiece. After the vehicle system is completed, it will automatically retract and feed the material, and carry out the turning of the next finished product.Suitable for mass production of smaller diameter workpieces.

6.   Copying Lathe:
The Copying lathe, also known as an analog lathe, uses the stylus to move in accordance with the model or the shape of the template, and the turning tool also moves the turning object accordingly, so that the same workpiece as the model can be correctly turned.

7.   Computerized Numerical Control Lathe:
The full name is "Computer Numerically Controlled Lathe," or "CNC Lathe." The advantage is that it is suitable for large quantities of workpieces with complex design and high precision requirements.


ü   車床的種類?

車床由於其用途、構造、速度及傳動方式有各種不同之設計,所以在選擇上當然要適合所欲生產加工之工件,以符合經濟效益,在此我們依其工作特性 給予歸類為下列幾種:
1.  普通車床(Centre lathe):
   又名臥式車床,為目前使用最廣泛的車床種類。早期的普通車床傳動是藉由皮帶傳導的塔輪變速,現今已改用齒輪變速箱傳動。齒輪變速箱的優點為可精確掌握主軸之轉速,且無主軸轉速過高,皮帶摩擦消耗、滑動之情形,因為其主軸是水平放置,若床面為凹口者,則為凹口車床(Gap lathe)。
2.  桌上車床(Bench lathe:
桌上型車床又稱台式車床,其型式及構造類似普通車床,通常安裝於工作桌上使用而得名,適用於生產精密量具、儀器及小零件之生產。
3.  立式車床(Vertical Lathe):
立式車床的主軸為垂直安裝,床台則成水平方向,工件置於可旋轉的床台上。特別適於加工直徑大,但長度短之工件。
4.  六角車床(Turret lathe):
六角車床又稱轉塔車床,以六角形旋轉刀塔取代普通車床之尾座而設計。特別適於加工需多種加工程序(如鑚孔、鉸孔、搪孔)中大量之工件,適合大量生產。
5.  自動車床(Automatic Lathe):
自動車床,能夠自動照工作物加工次序車削,車製完成後會自動退刀、進料,並進行下一個成品的車削,適合較小直徑工件之大量生產。
6.  靠模車床(Copying Lathe:
靠模車床又稱仿削車床,利用觸針依照模型或樣板的形狀移動,車刀也隨之移動車削工作物,因此可以正確地車削出與模型一樣的工件。
7.  CNC車床(Computerized Numerical Control Lathe):
全名為「電腦數值控制車床」,簡稱「CNC車床」。優點為適於加工生產中大數量、設計複雜、要求精密度高的工件。
